Inmate dies at Stony Mountain Institution

A 32-year-old inmate at Stony Mountain Institution has died while in custody, the institution said in a release on Wednesday.

The death took place on Tuesday, the release said. The man, identified as Craig Flett, had been serving a life sentence since May 2018.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified, the institution said.

In all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
