Teen charged with repeatedly stealing from grocery stores

A man is accused of stealing meat and chocolate from two grocery stores in north Winnipeg eight times.
Winnipeg police say an 18-year-old shoplifted more than $5,000 worth of meat and chocolate during a string of incidents from Jan. 19 to Feb. 20.
All of the crimes were recorded by the retailers’ security cameras and were reported to police.
Seven of the robberies took place at a store on the 2500 block of Main Street; the eighth was at a store on the 500 block of Mountain Avenue.
The accused was arrested March 6 for robbery, five counts of theft under $5,000, mischief, failing to attend court and five counts of failure to comply with a release order.
He is charged with the eight additional counts of theft under $5,000 and one count of failing to comply with a release order.
He was detained in custody.
