TORONTO –
Two-time Canadian champion Shawn Delierre, who won 17 titles on the Professional Squash Association tour over his 24-year pro career, will be inducted into the Canadian Squash Hall of Fame this spring.
The Class of 2026 will also include Viktor Berg, David Pemberton-Smith and Gerald Poulton, Squash Canada said Thursday in a statement.
Delierre, who holds the record for the longest professional men’s singles squash match at 170 minutes, won men’s team gold at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto.
Delierre, from Montreal, reached No. 35 in the world rankings in 2023.
He appeared in 34 tour finals over his career and played 64 matches for Canada.
The induction ceremony will be held during the April 29-May 2 Canadian senior championships in Vancouver.
Berg, from Richmond, B.C., won Pan Am men’s singles team gold in 2003 and held the No. 1 spot in the world doubles rankings from 2008-10.
He won 30 squash doubles associations titles over his career and earned world mixed open doubles titles on two occasions.
Pemberton-Smith, from Montreal, was a hardball singles and doubles competitor who later served as president of the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association squash club (now MAA Club Sportif).
Poulton, from Victoria, won five world masters titles over his career and was a World Squash Federation official for 12 years.
