Bisons fall short in national semis

The Manitoba Bisons’ bid for a men’s volleyball national championship is over.

One day after rolling past Laval in the quarterfinals, the Bisons ran out of steam as they fell 3-1 (25-15; 10-25; 22-25; 16-25) to the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in Saturday’s semifinal in Windsor, Ont.

The Bisons will play either Trinity Western or Windsor for bronze on Sunday (2 p.m.).

Owen Weekes led Manitoba with 14 kills, while Karil Dadash Adeh and Eric Ogaranko each had nine. Josh Jehle had 15 digs, and Sammy Ludwig had 34 assists.

The T-Birds were led by Reeve Gingera and Dawson Pratt, who had 14 kills apiece.
