Ottawa police say a third person has died after a Centretown highrise fire.

Firefighters were called to a building on Somerset Avenue on Saturday night where a fire on the 19th floor had trapped residents inside their unit.

Crews pulled three unconscious people from the unit and rescued a fourth trapped resident who had called 911 from the balcony.

Firefighters helped a fifth person who lived on the same floor out of the building.

Fire services reported on Sunday that two people had died from their injuries and police confirmed today a third person is dead.

Police say the fire marshal is leading the investigation.
