Two men have been arrested after a 21-year-old man was shot to death in February.
Police were sent to an Agnes Street residence shortly before 7 a.m. on Feb. 11 after a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found Jeremiah Riley Bateman with “a life-threatening upper body injury,” the Winnipeg Police Service previously said.
Officers provided first aid at the scene before the man was taken to hospital in critical condition. He died three days later.
Police asked for the public’s help in identifying suspects earlier this month.
On Monday, police announced the arrests of two men.
One of the men was apprehended Thursday when officers were sent to a house on the 300 block of Mountain Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. The accused barricaded himself in the home as members of the police tactical support team, drone unit, traffic division, bail compliance unit, Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit, crisis negotiators and school resource officers were sent to the scene.
The man was taken into custody at 4:45 p.m. after a standoff with police. No injuries were reported.
Michael James Jason Guimond, 28, was charged with manslaughter.
On Sunday, a second man was arrested in Bateman’s death. Jonathan Ryan Sinclair, 26, was arrested on the 100 block of Brazier Street and charged with second-degree murder.
Both men remain in custody.
