Man, 64, dies after snowmobile collision

A man died in hospital after he hit a tree while riding his snowmobile on a trail in the Rural Municipality of Alexander on Thursday.

Powerview RCMP were called to the trail at about 1 p.m. on Thursday, along with paramedics, firefighters and conservation officers.

The emergency responders called for a STARS Air Ambulance helicopter to fly the victim to Winnipeg for treatment, where he later died.

Investigators believe the man, a resident of the RM of East St Paul, was driving his snowmobile when he lost control of it and collided with a tree.

RCMP continue to investigate.
