Jets rally for 2-1 victory in Columbus

8:38 PM

COLUMBUS — The Winnipeg Jets didn’t let an early goal against get them down.

Instead, forward Kyle Connor took over offensively, scoring twice, while goaltender Connor Hellebuyck put up a brick wall the rest of the night as the Jets rallied for a 2-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

After Blue Jackets defenceman Ivan Provorov opened the scoring just 77 seconds into the game, Connor tied it late in the second period with his 35th goal of the season, then fired the winner with just over nine minutes left in the final frame.

Winnipeg improves to 33-31-12, including 3-1-0 on this road trip. They remain three points out of the final Western Conference wildcard playoff spot, now with six regular-season games remaining.

The Jets return home to face the Seattle Kraken on Monday night at Canada Life Centre.
