Shareholders of Eldorado Gold Corp. and Foran Mining Corp. will vote Tuesday on Eldorado’s plan to buy Foran. Eldorado chief executive George Burns has said the deal creates a stronger gold and copper growth company, with a portfolio of long-life assets, exploration upside and exposure to critical minerals.

Toronto home sales

The Toronto Regional Real Estate Board is expected to report its sales figures for March on Tuesday morning. The board reported sales in February were down 6.3 per cent from the same month last year, as they also fell one per cent on a seasonally adjusted basis from January.

Roots earnings

Roots Corp. will report its fourth-quarter results before markets open on Thursday and hold a conference call with analysts. The retailer announced last month that it was conducting a review of strategic alternatives including a possible sale of the company.

Jobs numbers

Statistics Canada will release its reading of the job market on Friday when it publishes its labour force survey for March. The Canadian economy lost 84,000 jobs in February as the unemployment rate increased 0.2 percentage points to 6.7 per cent.

Corus results

Corus Entertainment Inc. will report its second-quarter results on Friday. The Ontario Superior Court recently granted an order to the company to proceed with its recapitalization transaction. Corus has said it is working to obtain the remaining approvals, including from the CRTC, to complete the plan that will reduce its debt.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published April 5, 2026.
