AMHERST NOVA SCOTIA – Police in northern Nova Scotia have charged two people with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a man found badly wounded on a street in Amherst, N.S., on Monday night.

The Amherst Police Department issued a statement saying a third suspect, who is also facing a first-degree murder charge, remains at large.

The police department says 34-year-old Michael James Ryan of Springhill, N.S., should not be approached.

Meanwhile, investigators confirmed two people from Moncton, N.B., — 56-year-old Sean Eugene Patriquin and 42-year-old Natasha Deborah Austin — were arrested in Moncton and charged in the death of 41-year-old Chris Leggett.

Police say that prior to the shooting, there was a dispute between the suspects and the victim near the intersection of Prince Arthur Street and Church Street in Amherst.

Police allege that as the victim tried to escape, one of the suspects emerged from a vehicle with a long gun and shot him.
