VANCOUVER – A 36-year-old man has been charged with luring a minor using the internet and other offences in an alleged case in Vancouver involving a teenage girl.

Vancouver police say the accused has also been charged with possession of child-abuse and exploitation material, as well as possession of an unlawful firearm.

The case stems from a report to police sent by the girl’s mother on April 6, 2024, who told investigators that she found her daughter communicating with an adult man through text messages.

Police say the mother learned the man had requested intimate photos from the girl in exchange for money, and officers arrested the man in December 2024, while also seizing electronic devices and weapons.

The department says in a news release that the man is expected to appear in court on May 5.
