The Green Valley School in Grunthal was placed in a lockdown after a student took a weapon to the school Wednesday morning.
The Hanover School Division said in a news release RCMP were notified immediately.
Staff detained the student until police arrived and the lockdown was lifted, the division said.
Grunthal is 70 kilometres south of Winnipeg.
