Ontario’s police watchdog says divers have pulled a body from a vehicle that police attempted to stop before it entered Lake Ontario.
The Special Investigations Unit says an officer tried to stop the driver in Greater Napanee on Tuesday night before the vehicle hit a ditch and went into the lake.
The SIU says police divers found a dead body inside a submerged vehicle last night.
They say the person has not been formally identified.
The SIU says the vehicle went into the water near Highway 33 and County Road 21 shortly after an Ontario Provincial Police officer tried to stop it.
A collision reconstructionist and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
