TORONTO – Aecon Group Inc. reported a loss attributable to shareholders of $17.9 million during its first quarter, compared with a loss of $37.9 million a year earlier.
That amounted to a loss per diluted share of 28 cents for the three months ended March 31, compared with 60 cents during the prior-year quarter.
The Toronto-based construction firm says revenue reached $1.26 billion during the quarter, rising year-over-year from $1.06 billion.
Aecon also reported a record backlog of $10.9 billion.
The company says in its outlook that it expects 2026 revenue to exceed 2025 levels due to the strength of its backlog and other factors.
Aecon Group announced in March that a joint venture, of which it owns a 40 per cent stake in, finalized a US$691-million contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a project in Washington state.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published April 28, 2026.
