RCMP major crimes investigators have released new photos as they probe a fatal shooting in Thompson in 2024 that remains unsolved.
Steven Seela, 28, was shot and killed in the northern Manitoba city on Nov. 28, 2024.
Seela was last seen by loved ones on Nov. 24, 2024 and was reported missing by his mother on Nov. 27. One day later, he was found shot inside of a trailer on Pipe Road in the Thompson Trailer Courts.
RCMP major crimes investigators learned on Nov. 24, Seela left a residence in Thompson and travelled across the city, arriving at the Trailer Courts around 2:30 p.m.
On Friday, investigators released photos of two pickup trucks that were in the vicinity of the shooting on the day Seela was last seen by loved ones.
Investigators say the people in those vehicles likely have information relevant to the homicide case. Police are urging the public to help them identity the people who were in the trucks on Nov. 24, 2024.
RCMP ask anyone with information to call their tipline at 431-489-8106.
The release of the photos comes after RCMP put up billboards in Thompson seeking information on Seela’s death and canvassed area residents late last month.
Seela’s sister says she hopes the billboards convince someone to come forward.
“How would you feel if it was your sibling, your son, that was murdered? It wouldn’t feel good weighing on your heart if you had information,” said Kendra Seela in a statement released by RCMP. “He didn’t get enough time with his son Evi, but he really loved his son and was proud to be a dad.”
