Firefighters respond to four blazes Saturday

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to four structure fires on Saturday on Pritchard Avenue, Garfield Street North, Young Street, and Blake Street.

No injuries were reported in any of the blazes. All of the incidents are under investigation.

The first fire happened at about 9:45 a.m. May 2 in a duplex on the 700 block of Pritchard Avenue. All occupants got out safely before firefighters arrived, and the City of Winnipeg’s emergency social services team responded to help displaced residents.

A house fire occurred in the 600 block of Garfield Street North just before 2 p.m. and crews declared it under control at 2:18 p.m. A third fire occurred in a high-rise building on the 100 block of Young Street just before 5 p.m. Firefighters declared that blaze under control at about 5:19 p.m.

At 6:56 p.m., fire crews responded to a fire in a multi-unit residential building on the 300 block of Blake Street and declared the fire under control at 7:12 p.m. Many residents were able to return to their suites, and the emergency social services team responded to help displaced residents.
