STURGEON COUNTY – A county north of Edmonton says a wildfire destroyed three homes and damaged another Saturday before it was brought under control.

The wildfire entered the Summer Village of Sandy Beach, located in Sturgeon County, from the east.

The county says in a social media post that crews worked overnight to control the blaze, and it was held as of today.

The post says the cause of the wildfire is under investigation.

The Summer Village of Sandy Beach declared a state of emergency when the fire entered the community.

Sturgeon County says fire crews from multiple jurisdictions fought the blaze.
