Senior kicked by random stranger: Portage la Prairie RCMP

Portage la Prairie RCMP arrested a man accused of randomly assaulting a senior while filming the attack on his cellphone.

Mounties were called to the intersection of 4th Street Northwest and Saskatchewan Avenue West at about 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, where officers were told a suspect had begun filming the victim, a 71-year-old man, before the suspect came up to him and kicked him in the stomach.

The 71-year-old, who had been standing near his vehicle at the time, did not know the attacker. He wasn’t seriously hurt, RCMP said.

Officers found their suspect and arrested him at a nearby home. The 41-year-old man is facing an assault charge.
