A 24-year-old man has been accused of weapons trafficking and drug dealing after a probe by Winnipeg police resulted in 21 loaded pistols being seized from a Central Park area residence.
Organized crime investigators began looking into allegations someone was selling drugs from an apartment on Cumberland Avenue earlier this month, the Winnipeg Police Service said on Wednesday.
Last Thursday, officers executed a warrant at the suite on the 300 block of Cumberland, where they found 21 loaded handguns, a silencer, various ammunition, 27 grams of cocaine, about $25,000 in cash, a laptop and two cellphones.
Jawad Miakhail, 24, has been charged with dozens of weapons offences, as well as possession for the purpose of weapons trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000 and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He was held in custody.
Miakhail has no prior record in Manitoba, court records show.
