Two people have been accused of breaking into a Portage la Prairie business and stealing more than $10,000 worth of tools and other items last week.
RCMP were called to a business on the 2700 block of Saskatchewan Avenue West just after 4 a.m. on May 8, where they learned a man and a woman had driven up behind the building and loaded tools and work equipment in their vehicle before heading off.
Mounties learned the thieves had actually stolen from an adjacent business and identified two suspects. Officers executed a search warrant on a home on 18th St. Northwest, where they found the stolen goods, half a gram of meth, four grams of fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and $780 in cash.
Police arrested four people who were inside the home, including the 39-year-old man and 24-year-old woman accused of the break-in. A 35-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were charged with possessing stolen property.
