Winnipeg firefighters were called to fires in an apartment building and home on Thursday morning.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews raced to a one-and-a-half-storey house on the 1300 block of Lincoln Avenue at 10 a.m., where they found smoke billowing from the house.
Firefighters got inside and quickly extinguished the flames. No one was inside the house at the time and officials believe the fire was accidental.
Later, just before 11:30 a.m., crews were called to a 12-storey apartment on the 100 block of Powers Street, where heavy smoke was coming from the building. Firefighters located the blaze in a suite and got it under control by about 11:50 a.m.
The blaze was contained to one suite, but neighbouring suites were damaged by smoke and water.
Some of the building’s residents got out on their own, while firefighters evacuated others. None were hurt.
