OTTAWA – A child has died in Ottawa after being found in water.

Ottawa police say a six-year-old was reported missing Thursday afternoon in the area of Riverside Drive and Hog’s Back Road.

They say the child was located in the water shortly afterward and brought to shore.

Police say bystanders tried lifesaving efforts but the child died in hospital.

They say support services have been made available to the child’s family and the emergency personnel involved in the response.

An investigation into the death continues.
