City sending out property assessment notices

Homeowners can expect to receive updated property value letters in their mailboxes soon.
About 243,200 Winnipeg homeowners will learn their property’s value for 2027, as assessed by the city. The value will begin to affect property tax bills that year.
The city is required to update the assessments every two years to reflect changes in the real estate market.
An increase in a property’s value does not translate to an equal increase in property taxes, which are also affected by tax levels in the city’s budget and average property value increases, a city press release notes.
