Two taken to hospital following rooming-house fire
1:14 PM
One rooming-house resident and a firefighter were taken to hospital after a fire in a two-storey rooming house in the 300 block of Redwood Avenue Saturday.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of fire at 9:34 p.m. June 6. Firefighters fought the blaze and declared the fire under control at 10:02 p.m. All residents evacuated the building, and one resident was assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital in unstable condition.
A firefighter was injured on scene and was also taken to hospital in stable condition.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates were not available, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service stated in a news release Sunday.
Police investigate serious collision near Polo Park
10:44 AM
City police are investigating a serious motorcycle collision that took place near the intersection of Portage Avenue and Century Street in the early hours of the morning Sunday
The Winnipeg Police Service was called to the scene of a crash near the St. James bridge around 12:30 a.m., Const. Pat Saydak said.
Saydak said two motorcycles were involved in the incident, but the public information office did not have any further information.
The crash temporarily forced the closure of the bridge on Sunday, as well as the northbound lanes on Route 90 between Academy Road and Portage Avenue.
