Police searching for serious sex assault suspect
11:52 PM
Winnipeg police are searching for a man suspected of seriously sexually assaulting a pre-teen girl on Saturday at about 3 a.m. in the vicinity of Manitoba Avenue and Salter Street.
Police said the girl was walking in the 400 block of Manitoba Avenue when she was approached by a vehicle driven by a man described as being south Asian, 30-40 years old, with short dark hair and a moustache.
In a press release, police said the girl was coaxed into the vehicle with the promise of drugs and alcohol and was taken to a nearby alley where she was threatened at knifepoint and seriously sexually assaulted.
After the assault, the girl fled to a nearby family member’s residence and contacted police.
The vehicle was described as a four-door brown sedan.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 204-986-3296.
