PRINCE ALBERT – Mounties in northern Saskatchewan say a man is facing charges after he allegedly reversed a stolen truck into a police vehicle while officers were trying to approach him.
RCMP say officers surrounded a stolen truck parked outside a home Friday in the community of Little Red River, a First Nation about 180 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
They say the truck then reversed at a high rate of speed and slammed into a police vehicle as an officer was exiting.
RCMP say the man fled on foot, but officers were able to catch him.
Mounties say no one was injured, but the police car was damaged and deemed inoperable.
Police also found a sawed-off firearm and a knife when searching the truck.
A 27-year-old man has been charged with several offences, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
