PRINCE GEORGE – A tornado watch issued Friday for a section of central B.C. that includes Prince George has ended.
Environment Canada had said conditions were ripe for severe thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes.
It also warned of high winds, ping-pong ball-sized hail and heavy rain.
The region remains under a severe thunderstorm watch.
Environment Canada says severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for storms that can bring damaging hail, wind or rain.
Meanwhile, heavy rain is expected in parts of central Alberta, including Edmonton, with up to 100 millimetres forecast in some areas this weekend before easing by Sunday.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published June 19, 2026.
