Thompson under boil-water advisory owing to water line work

The City of Thompson has put in place a precautionary boil-water advisory while crews work to replace a water line.

Crews began maintenance work on a main water line valve on Oak Street in the northern city on Saturday evening. Officials say the work was anticipated to reduce water pressure throughout the city’s water system.

The city said water pressure should return to normal after the work is completed, but officials will keep the boil-water advisory in place until crews conduct bacteriological testing of the water.

Officials will advise the community once the advisory is lifted.
