CAE reports first-quarter profit of $31M, down from $57.2M last year

MONTREAL – Flight simulator maker CAE Inc. reported first-quarter profit attributable to equity holders of $31 million, down from $57.2 million during the same period last year.
That amounted to earnings per share of 10 cents, compared with 18 cents during the prior-year quarter.
Revenue for the quarter totalled $1.17 billion, rising 6.8 per cent year-over-year from $1.10 billion.
CAE says revenue for its civil aviation segment reached $641.6 million in the quarter, up from $607.7 million.
First quarter defence revenue was $531.8 million, up from $490.9 million.
The company’s adjusted backlog stood at $19.2 billion during the quarter, down slightly from $19.5 billion during last year’s first quarter.
