Goldeyes split two-game series with Monarchs

The Winnipeg Goldeyes and Kansas City Monarchs met at Blue Cross Park once again to finish what they started the night before and begin game two of the series.

After another tied up inning, 5-5, the game proceeded into a tenth. Pitcher Derrick Cherry kept the Monarch’s at their current score while Keshawn Lynch singled on a line drive bringing Ramón Bramasco home, concluding the game 6-5.

Game two began after a quick break before the players hit the pitch a second time.

The Monarchs opened up the scoring in the top of the third and continued to increase their lead with two more runs in the fourth inning, 3-0.

In the same inning, shortstop Peyton Holt hit a bloop to right field where Lynch ran from second base to home, 3-1.

With a Monarchs home run early in the sixth, the Goldeyes increased their deficit by three – but that didn’t stick for long with two runs in the bottom by Lynch and Holt.

The Goldeyes ultimately fell short with the Monarchs taking the win 8-3. The third game of the series will begin Aug. 26 in Blue Cross Park, first pitch at 6:30pm.
