Water levels forecasted to be below normal along Red River

A federal body is warning a “recent drought” may cause water levels to drop along the Red River between St. Andrews Lock and Dam and the City of Winnipeg.

In a news release Tuesday afternoon, Public Services and Procurement Canada said waters are “forecasted to fall below the summer operational level” and warned boat operators to avoid possible hazards like rocks that would otherwise be submerged.

“PSPC will continue to lock vessels through but will not accept responsibility for water levels upstream or downstream of the lock, and in addition will not be responsible for the depth of water over the Lister Rapids,” the news release said.
