MOON ALERT: After 7 a.m. today there are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions. The moon is in Gemini.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

You’re impulsive, and you are also highly creative. You might have an original idea that surprises everyone. Don’t hesitate to share what you think even if it sounds a bit touchy-feely or too “out there.” Meanwhile, keep hard at work busting your buns.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

You might have some unusual ideas about making money or increasing your earnings. Admittedly, something unexpected might also impact something you own. Therefore, guard your possessions against loss, theft or damage. Strive to be clear in your thinking and communications.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

This is an unusually powerful day for you because the moon is in your sign enhanced by several planets. You’ll be an effective communicator who might inspire a friend or group. However, guard against impulsive, rash actions because your moods will change quickly. Keep your eyes open!

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

You might feel restless. Make no assumptions when dealing with authority figures (parents, bosses, teachers, VIPs and the police) because there is a possibility of confusion or misunderstandings. You have strong ideas about shared property, inheritance and debt.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

A friend might say or do something that catches you off-guard. Or perhaps a member of a group will do so? Possibly, something unusual, even in the news, makes you feel sympathetic to someone and you want to help. Meanwhile, conversations with partners and close friends could be intense.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Keep your eye on authority figures — including parents — because they might do something you least expect. (“Busted!”) It can be minor, or it could be major. Don’t break the rules. Ask for permission. Some of you will look for ways to improve your health or job.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Travel plans might be interrupted. Or you might suddenly have to travel when you didn’t expect to do so. Romantic exchanges as well as interactions with kids might be intense. (You might even feel jealous.) Meanwhile, you’ll want to help a partner or someone close to you.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Think twice before you make an important financial decision, especially if giving someone else money or sharing something. Don’t be rash. Give everything a sober second thought. (Even if you want to help someone.) Also, guard against an obsession!

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

A partner or close friend might throw you a curveball. Be ready for something unexpected. Someone might be jealous or may misunderstand something — even a gesture of generosity or caring on your part. Fortunately, you make a great impression on everyone.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Your work routine will be interrupted. Equipment breakdowns, staff shortages, late deliveries — something will occur. Guard against being obsessed about something — perhaps meeting a deadline or going by the rule book? Stay flexible. In the passage of time, will this really matter? Keep things in perspective.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Parents should be extra-vigilant about their kids because this is an accident-prone day for children. Furthermore, information about social outings, your kids or sporting events might be confusing or misleading. Don’t get your belly in a rash.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

Your home routine will be interrupted. Small appliances might break down or something could surprise you. Someone unexpected might appear at your door. Stay cool. Confusion about money and possessions is likely. Get all your facts before you react or decide to take action.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY

Actor Charlie Sheen (1965) shares your birthday. You’re clever, thoughtful, independent and determined. You appear to be conciliatory and affable to be effective. It’s time to build foundations in your life both externally and internally. Simplicity is key. Take charge of your health. Physical exercise will be important. (Explore martial arts or yoga.) Stay grounded and levelheaded.

Officers, not technology, stop huge drug drop into Stony prison

Stony Mountain Institution officers intercepted $1.8 million worth of drugs and other banned items Sunday in one of the largest reported seizures in recent years at Manitoba’s only federal prison.

Jake Suelzle, president of the Union of Canadian Correctional Officers’ prairie region, said employees spotted a drone while it delivered packages containing contraband.

“What marks this one a little bit unique is the (Correctional Service of Canada) just invested a significant amount of money into a drone detector, and this drone detector sure showed its worth when it didn’t detect at all,” he said Tuesday. “No alarm was raised when this package was dropped.”

In a news release that offered limited details, the correctional service said the items, including THC concentrate, were found in packages thanks to the “vigilance” of employees.

Blue Bombers already excited about putting a dent in Rider Pride come Labour Day Classic

Ken Wiebe 6 minute read Yesterday at 6:19 PM CDT

Jordan Younger was in the midst of breaking down the play of his defence when a question about how many times he’s participated in a Labour Day matchup was fired his way.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive co-ordinator started doing the math out loud and landed somewhere in the neighbourhood of 40 or slightly higher, counting his time as a player and a coach.

As the Bombers prepare for a pivotal home-and-home series with the Saskatchewan Roughriders — beginning Sunday in Regina — Younger is more than happy to discuss what makes the matchup special, even after all of these years.

“If you had to show somebody what a regular season game could be like in the CFL that never have any idea, you would want to show them the Labour Day Classic out in Saskatchewan and the Banjo Bowl rematch back here,” said Younger. “It would give (observers) a great idea of how impactful the CFL game can be. They’re definitely fun games to be a part of.”

It’s like renaming the Great Barrier Reef

Ralph Pirozzo 5 minute read 2:00 AM CDT

I write as a proud Canadian-Australian who is experiencing something I never imagined possible — watching Canada’s sovereignty, economic security and national identity being repeatedly challenged by the country it has long regarded as its closest neighbour and ally.

This is not an abstract diplomatic disagreement to me. Canada is my beloved country. To witness its name, dignity and independence treated as though they may be diminished, negotiated away or simply disregarded is profoundly painful.

Any one of the events that has occurred might be dismissed as another dispute between governments. Taken together, however, three developments provide unmistakable evidence that a red line has been crossed.

First came the tariffs affecting Canadian steel, aluminum, automobiles and softwood lumber. These measures were introduced despite the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement — CUSMA — intended to provide stability, predictability and largely tariff-free trade across North America.
