Suspect charged for Sutton Avenue blaze in July

A 41-year-old man has been charged after police say he deliberately set a fire that caused an estimated $200,000 in damage at a Winnipeg housing complex this summer.

Police said officers were called to the 300 block of Sutton Avenue shortly after 2:30 p.m. on July 15, where a fire had broken out at the complex.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators determined the blaze had been deliberately set by a tenant who fled the area afterward, police said. The major crimes unit took over the investigation and identified a suspect.

Joshua Angelo Hourie, 41, was arrested without incident Tuesday.

He has been charged with two counts of arson with disregard for human life. He remains in custody.
