MOON ALERT: After 2 a.m. , there are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions. The moon is in Scorpio.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

You’ll be pleased at how much you accomplish. This is because your ruler Mars is boosting the sun while it is travelling through your house of employment. You’ll be the perfect example of Col. Saito’s motto: “Be happy in your work.”

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

You can work in a productive way. Or you can use this same driving energy to explore sporting events, fun activities with kids, the arts, the entertainment world or the hospitality industry. Relations with partners are supportive.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

You have lots of energy to take on home-improvement projects. You might also be more involved than usual with a parent. Relations with co-workers are wonderful. Accept someone’s help. A work-related romance might be percolating.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

Enjoy a short trip. Take care of appointments and errands. Explore your ability to sell, market, talk or teach because these are all excellent choices for you. Oh yes — you’re bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. You’re active, confident and keen to express yourself. People will listen to you.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

You have strong moneymaking ideas, plus the energy to make money. You might do this in a public way or quietly behind the scenes. This is also an excellent day to entertain at home because relations with family members are loving.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

This is a positive day. The sun is in your sign getting a boost from fiery Mars, while the moon is lined up with Venus in your house of communications. You’re in the right place, at the right time, saying the right thing to the right person. A winning day.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You might choose to play things low-key and work behind the scenes. Nevertheless, you’ll accomplish a lot. With Mercury in your sign, you’re keen to express your ideas to others. Shopping for beautiful things will appeal.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

The moon is lined up with fair Venus in your sign, which is a winning combination. You’re charming with everybody. This is why everyone wants to be in your company. (Your charisma will convince people to jump on your bandwagon.)

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You make a strong impression on everyone because the sun is at the top of your chart casting you in a flattering spotlight, while Mars amplifies this energy making you virtually shine in the eyes of others. Use this to your advantage.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Grab every chance to travel or do something to expand your horizons because you have a strong urge to do so. Enjoy learning through film, study or talking to people from different backgrounds. You’ll also get a kick out of the stimulation of a new place — anything different. (Romance with a friend might begin.)

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Discussions about shared property, taxes, debt and insurance issues will be lively. And because both the moon and Venus are lined up at the top of your chart, not only will you be high-viz, but very likely, these discussions will go in your favour. And everyone will know it.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

You might attract someone to you who is forthright and direct. Because another influence encourages romance with someone “different,” could this signal some kind of attraction for you? However, it will also encourage fun socializing and physical activity.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY

Actor Sam Neill (1947-2026) shared your birthday. You are steadfast, organized, efficient and energetic. You take charge quickly with a sharp eye. This is a year of service for you, perhaps to family. Take care of yourself so you can be a resource to those who turn to you for guidance, comfort and courage.

Young Winnipeg Jet hopeful, Viggo Bjorck, shines brightly in prospects tournament

Mike McIntyre 6 minute read Sunday, Sep. 13, 2026

It’s safe to say Viggo Bjorck made plenty of new friends and fans this past weekend — including members of his own Winnipeg Jets prospects team which split a pair of tournament games in Quebec.

Take Davis Burnside for example. The undrafted 22-year-old forward, who signed with the Manitoba Moose last spring after finishing up at Ohio State University, couldn’t believe his eyes when he was put on a line with Bjorck, the eighth-overall pick from this summer’s draft and one of the most exciting young players in 2.0 Jets history.

“You see all the highlights and you just can’t wait to play with him,” said Burnside.

It wasn’t long before they teamed up for a highlight of their own. Bjorck made a sensational through-the-legs, no-look pass to Burnside on Sunday afternoon, setting him up for a shorthanded snipe in an eventual 6-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs young guns.

Man, 21, killed in animal attack on Manitoba First Nation

Chris Kitching 5 minute read Updated: Yesterday at 8:18 PM CDT

The family of “a kind and gentle giant” is grief-stricken as officials try to determine what kind of animal killed the 21-year-old man in western Manitoba.

Moses Campeau was walking on a road to a friend’s house in Sapotaweyak Cree Nation, about 600 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg, when he was fatally injured Sept. 9, his mother, Paula Campeau, said Monday.

“Moses was a kind and gentle giant,” she said. “He was a person who (people) would ask to come and help them, and he would go without even hesitating.”

Manitoba RCMP said officers from the Swan River detachment responded to a report of a suspicious death at about 3:10 a.m. The scene was held and the RCMP’s major crime services took over the investigation.

Rogers, Telus deny blame for June twister alert barrage

Malak Abas 3 minute read Updated: 7:21 AM CDT

Telecom companies say they aren’t to blame for the barrage of tornado alerts Manitobans received during severe thunderstorms in early June.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission announced in August it would investigate the unusually high number of alerts, and called on the Pelmorex Corp., which operates the national Alert Ready system, along with telecom companies Bell, Rogers and Telus to respond to a number of questions.

They were given until last Friday to describe their possible roles in the creation, receipt, processing or distribution of alerts issued from Environment and Climate Change Canada in the midst of the June 9 storm.

Telus said in its response that it received 133 alert requests targeted to Manitoba created by Environment Canada and forwarded by Pelmorex between 2:35 p.m. June 9 and 3:29 a.m. the following day. While the majority of those messages contained identical information and were automatically suppressed, 17 were ultimately sent out as alerts in Winnipeg.
