NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Utah Mammoth defenseman Mikhail Sergachev left Tuesday night’s 5-3 win over New Jersey after being struck on the back of the helmet by a puck.
Sergachev was hit by a clearing attempt by teammate MacKenzie Weegar and went to the bench with 29 seconds left in the second period and directly down the tunnel to the locker room.
The Mammoth ruled Sergachev out for the rest of the game due to an upper-body injury.
Utah coach Andre Tourigny had no update on the status of Sergachev after the game.
Before leaving the game, Sergachev had three assists, including the 300th of his career as Utah built a 3-2 lead over the Devils through two periods. The 28-year-old Russian defenseman reached the milestone in his 634th NHL game.
