MOON ALERT: Avoid shopping (except food and gas) and important decisions after 10 p.m. today. The moon is in Pisces.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

This is a great day to make art, which is good news for your sign as so many of you are artisans. (You can do anything with your hands, even without training.) Enjoy time alone and give yourself the luxury of doing what you want to do.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

This is a great day to shmooz! Relations with friends, as well as members of groups and those who are close to you — partners, spouses and dear friends — will be warm and chatty. You want to share ideas and you also want to hear what’s happening with others.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

You’re high-viz and people are more inclined than usual to listen to you. Fortunately, you like to communicate your ideas! You also like to have your finger on the pulse of things so you know what’s going on. Co-operate with co-workers.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

Although you are basically a nester, obviously, you do travel. This might be one of those days as you’re keen to do something to break free of your routine and shake things up a little. You want to learn something new. You might also help educate young minds.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

Put on your thinking cap and explore ideas about solidifying your home base in a practical way. Family discussions might take place. You might be interested in home repairs. Put in the effort to improve your living space, because your home is your castle.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You might have to go more than halfway when dealing with others as the moon is opposite your sign; but you can really talk to people in a convincing way! You might also teach or learn something new and thought-provoking.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Roll up your sleeves and get stuff done. This could relate to your job, your health, a pet or any project you choose. You’re thinking more about moneymaking ideas lately. And you’re spending cash! That’s because you’re energized with the sun in your sign.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You’re in a creative frame of mind, which is why this is a great day to express your talents through the arts and crafts. It’s also a great day to shmooz and explore flirtatious possibilities! Shop for wardrobe treasures.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

It’s a mixed bag because in one way, you’re keen to talk to others and interact with groups and organizations. However, you’ll also be glad to relax at home and enjoy familiar surroundings. You might want to make travel plans for the future as you’re keen to go somewhere.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Others admire you now because you look good to everyone. Take advantage of this and make your pitch. Now in particular, exchanges with younger people as well as creative artistic types will go well. Others are ready to jump on your bandwagon.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Respect your moneymaking ideas as they might be worthwhile. In fact, discussions with parents, bosses and authority figures will go well because people see you as charming and approachable. Nevertheless, be patient with partners, spouses and loved ones. (You know you are.)

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

This is a great day for artistic projects and doing anything to expand your mind. You’ll also feel rewarded if you have an opportunity to help someone as you’re ready to reach out to others. This is good.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY

Actor Jeff Goldblum (1952) shares your birthday. You’re imaginative, empathetic and happy with attention. You’re a benevolent eccentric. This is a year of service, perhaps to family. Take care of yourself so you can be a resource to those who turn to you for guidance, comfort, support and courage. Personalize your home this year.

Winnipeg pharmacist fined for dispensing incorrect dosage of anti-psychotic medication

Erik Pindera 4 minute read 11:31 AM CDT

A Winnipeg pharmacist has been fined for misconduct after dispensing a mistakenly high dose of an anti-psychotic, harming her patient.

Rumina Ishani was fined $3,500 and ordered to pay $5,000 in costs by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba earlier this month, after pleading guilty to professional misconduct.

The college, in a written disciplinary decision, said the incident occurred on Aug. 12, 2025, at the Marion Street Shoppers Drug Mart where Ishani worked at the time.

She filled an aripiprazole prescription for a patient that day. The patient had first been given the anti-psychotic at that pharmacy in November 2023 at two milligrams a day for 30 days, and was again prescribed the drug in February 2025 at one mg/day, which was increased to two mg/day in March.

Air force pays tribute to retiring CC-130H Hercules planes

Chris Kitching 5 minute read Yesterday at 6:39 PM CDT

Royal Canadian Air Force personnel in Winnipeg bid farewell Saturday to the military branch’s last remaining CC-130H Hercules planes — “workhorses” that crews flew in seemingly countless combat, rescue and transport operations.

The federal government is phasing out Canada’s fleet of CC-130H Hercules aircraft, which entered service in 1974, in favour of modern planes, including the CC-295 Kingfisher, which will be used for search-and-rescue operations out of 17 Wing Winnipeg as of November.

“It’s really part of our family and one of us. This was the backbone of a lot of things that we do here out of Winnipeg,” Col. Curtis Wright, commander of 17 Wing Winnipeg, said of the “mighty Herc” after a retirement ceremony and a flypast.

The 435 Transport Search and Rescue Squadron, based at 17 Wing Winnipeg, is the final RCAF unit to fly the CC-130H Hercules. Two Winnipeg-based planes are still being flown. They will be taken out of service Nov. 1 and Nov. 18, Wright said.

Connor Hellebuyck breaks silence after trade from Jets

Mike McIntyre 8 minute read Yesterday at 1:40 PM CDT

It took until the very end of his introductory news conference Saturday — right around the 15-minute mark — before Connor Hellebuyck was finally asked the question that hockey fans back in Winnipeg were likely waiting for.

“Is there anything you’d like to say to Jets fans?” a reporter who covers Hellebuyck’s new team, the New Jersey Devils, put to him during the session held inside the Prudential Center in Newark.

A short pause followed.

“I mean, there’s a lot. There’s a lot that I need to say,” Hellebuyck began, no doubt raising plenty of eyebrows around here and the hockey world in general.

Woman receives 8½-month sentence for disposal of body

Dean Pritchard 4 minute read Yesterday at 5:04 PM CDT

A Winnipeg woman who helped dispose the body of a slain Mexican man under threat of death from his killers has been ordered to serve another 8½ months in jail.

Devlin Langlois, 25, had pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to murder in the March 2025 killing of 28-year-old Diego Moscoza in a Selkirk Avenue house.

Court of King’s Bench Justice Candace Grammond, in a written ruling delivered Friday, rejected a recommendation by Langlois’s lawyer Joshua Rogala that she be sentenced to the equivalent of nearly 16 months of time served.

Grammond said she accepted that Langlois feared for her life. However, she made no effort to help Moscoza when he was gravely injured and his killers were not present in the home and had not yet threatened her.
