ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Keyone Jenkins threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to tight end Grayson Brousseau in the second overtime, and UCF survived a wild finish in regulation to knock off No. 2 BYU 39-31 on Saturday.
Needing a touchdown and a 2-point conversion to force a third OT, the Cougars (6-1, 3-1 Big 12) drove to the UCF 4-yard line, but Bear Bachmeier’s fourth-down pass to Walker Lyons fell incomplete, giving the Knights (4-3, 2-2) their first win over a top-5 team in school history.
A week after knocking off then-No. 2 Notre Dame, BYU became the latest unbeaten team to fall in a wild few weeks of the college football season.
UCF was driving toward a potential game-winning field goal in regulation when Jenkins lost the ball on a play that was ruled a sack on the field. But after a replay review, the call was overturned to an incomplete pass, and BYU was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, moving the Knights into kicker Will Stone’s range.
But BYU blocked Stone’s 47-yard attempt to force OT.
NO. 1 MIAMI 52, PITTSBURGH 23
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Malachi Toney had a school-record 16 catches, Dariah Mensah threw for 387 yards and four touchdowns and Miami rolled past Pitt in the Hurricanes’ first game as the nation’s top-ranked team in nearly 24 years.
Toney finished with 194 receiving yards and three touchdown catches, while Javian Mallory rushed for two scores and Mark Fletcher Jr. moved into the No. 2 spot on Miami’s all-time list with the 33rd rushing TD of his career.
The win should keep Miami (7-0, 5-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) atop the poll when the AP Top 25 is updated Sunday — ending what has been a three-week run of the No. 1 team dropping in the poll after a loss. Texas was No. 1 before losing to Oklahoma, then Georgia was No. 1 before falling to Auburn.
Miami native Blue Hicks had five catches for 149 yards and a touchdown for Pitt (5-3, 2-3), which dropped its third straight game. Holden Geriner got the start at quarterback and completed 18 of 32 passes for 268 yards and a touchdown.
NO. 6 INDIANA 13, MICHIGAN 6, OT
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Josh Hoover had a 4-yard touchdown run in overtime and Indiana kept Michigan out of the end zone in a win.
The defending national champion Hoosiers (7-1, 4-1 Big Ten) avoided losing two straight for the first time in three years with coach Curt Cignetti — and won at the Big House for the first time since 1967.
The Wolverines (4-3, 1-3) started quarterback Tommy Carr and sat Bryce Underwood, but the freshman didn’t fare as well as he did last week coming off the bench in a win over Penn State.
Carr lost a fumble on an ill-advised pitch in the first quarter and was picked off in the second half. He took sacks in the second and third quarters that led to missed field goals, including a 32-yard kick after advancing to the Indiana 1.
Michigan reached the Hoosiers 3 in the final minute of regulation when Carr was sacked for a fourth time, leading to a 26-yard field goal as time expired.
With a chance to send the game to a second overtime, Michigan advanced to the Indiana 13 and Carr threw an incomplete pass that hit the turf in front of Salesi Moa just outside of the end zone.
NO. 19 TEXAS 34, NO. 7 MISSISSIPPI 27
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Arch Manning threw a touchdown pass and had his first two rushing scores of the season, including the tiebreaker in the fourth quarter, and Texas held on for a wild 34-27 victory over seventh-ranked Mississippi after blowing a 21-point lead in the second half Saturday night.
The Longhorns also nearly squandered a 10-point lead in the final two minutes when receiver Emmett Mosley IV couldn’t hang on to an onside kick and the Rebels recovered to stay alive. But Trinidad Chambliss’ pass into the end zone on the final play was intercepted by Jelani McDonald.
Raleek Brown had 157 yards rushing, including a 47-yard run that set up Manning’s 1-yard stroll untouched around the end for a 31-24 lead when his fake handoff fooled everyone.
CINCINNATI 34, NO. 8 TEXAS TECH 24
CINCINNATI (AP) — Cole Tabb had a career-high 173 rushing yards and a touchdown and JC French IV threw for a career-high four TD passes as Cincinnati stunned Texas Tech.
It was the Bearcats’ first win over a top-10 team at home since Nov. 18, 2006, when they defeated No. 7 Rutgers 30-11. Cincinnati won at ninth-ranked Notre Dame in 2021.
The Red Raiders (6-1, 3-1 Big 12) failed go 7-0 for the first time since 2013 and were plagued by mistakes all afternoon.
Red Raiders QB Will Hammond lost a fumble and had an intentional grounding penalty forcing them to settle for field goals and take a 6-3 lead.
Hammond passed for 227 yards with an interception, and J’Koby Williams rushed for 81 yards on 11 carries for the Red Raiders.
The Bearcats (5-2, 2-2) scored 21 points in the second quarter.
Tabb’s four-yard TD catch put the Bearcats ahead 10-6. They extended the lead to 17-6 on a five-yard TD catch by Malachi Henry with 1:37 remaining in the half.
Following an interception by MJ Cannon, the Bearcats drove 75 yards in 27 seconds. Tabb’s 51-yard run set up a two-yard TD catch by tight end Lyviel Waters, making the score 24-6 at halftime.
Tabb’s 58-yard touchdown run with six minutes left sealed the victory for the Bearcats.
NO. 9 UCLA 28, MICHIGAN ST. 10
PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — Ty Dieffenbach threw a 63-yard touchdown pass and handed off for three others as UCLA beat Michigan State for the Bruins’ first 7-0 start since 2005.
UCLA (5-0 Big Ten) briefly trailed early for the first time since a 17-15 win at then-No. 13 Oregon two weeks ago. The Bruins outgained the Spartans 443-156.
The undermanned and underdog Spartans (2-6, 0-5) led 7-0 after Devin Vaught recovered Jalen Woods’ fumble and ran 56 yards to the UCLA 15-yard line. That helped set up third-string quarterback Kayd Coffman’s 14-yard TD pass to Keshawn Williams in the first quarter.
Making his first career start, Coffman completed 4 of 10 passes for 42 yards, one TD and one interception. Leo Hannan took over in the fourth and was 9 of 15 for 67 yards. He got picked off by UCLA’s Malik Hartford late in the game.
After a sluggish start that included their first two fumbles at home, the Bruins pulled away.
Jaivian Thomas’ 7-yard TD run tied it 7-all and Wayne Knight scored on a 1-yard plunge for his 12th TD on the ground — and 13th overall — that put UCLA ahead 14-7 in the second quarter.
NO. 10 UTAH 21, NO. 14 HOUSTON 13
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Devon Dampier ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns and Utah held off Houston to keep the Utes among the dwindling unbeatens.
Dampier completed 18 of 26 passes for 204 yards with two interceptions, but made the biggest plays with his legs to help Utah (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) run the longest active winning streak in college football to 13 games.
Jackson Bennee sacked Conner Weigman, and Jireh Moe recovered on the Houston 9 with 2:15 remaining. On the next play, Dampier scampered into the end zone to make it 20-13.
Weigman, who went 19 for 35 and had 282 yards passing, drove the Cougars (6-2, 3-2) to the Utah 23, but threw four straight incompletions. He was 4 of 12 in the fourth quarter.
The Cougars stuffed all the ways Utah likes to run the ball until Dampier took matters into his own hands and posted a season high in rushing in electrifying style.
The Utes were driving to try and add to their slim cushion but Latreveon McCutchin intercepted Dampier’s pass at the Houston 34. Aided by Jireh Moe’s sack, Utah forced a three-and-out.
Houston’s Amare Thomas tied his season high with 133 yards on five receptions.
SOUTH CAROLINA 27, NO. 11 TENNESSEE 24
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — LaNorris Sellers accounted for three touchdowns and Malik Orsan nailed a 48-yard field goal as time expired to lift South Carolina past Tennessee.
Sellers rallied the Gamecocks (4-3, 2-3 Southeastern Conference) in the final minutes and the defense got a strip sack and fumble of Tennessee quarterback George MacIntyre with 33 seconds to play to set up the winning kick.
Sellers threw for a touchdown and ran for two others, including the tying scored with 1:17 left. Moments later, MacIntyre fumbled after a sack by Dylan Stewart and defensive tackle Tomiwa Durojaiye recovered at the Tennessee 34.
South Carolina ran the clock down to 3 seconds and Orsan easily put the kick through the uprights for the walk-off win.
Fans rushed the field to celebrate the second straight ranked victory for South Carolina, which defeated then-No. 16 Florida two weeks ago at The Swamp.
The game appeared over a few minutes earlier when the Vols, up 24-17, went for a fourth-and-1 with 3:35 left on South Carolina’s 39 and MacIntyre was stuffed.
Sellers took full advantage and on third-and-goal he was hit by two defenders and fought through to get the pilon for a touchdown that was upheld on review.
NO. 12 KENTUCKY 34, VANDERBILT 17
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kenny Minchey threw for 203 yards a touchdown and rushed for another score in Kentucky’s victory over Vanderbilt.
The Wildcats (7-1, 5-1 Southeastern Conference) snapped a two-game losing streak to the Commodores (3-5, 0-5) and moved into sole possession of first place in the league standings by a half-game over No. 5 Georgia. The Bulldogs were idle Saturday.
Kentucky, which lost to Vanderbilt 45-17 last year, had just 14 yards in the first quarter and fell behind 10-0 before scoring back-to-back touchdowns on its last two possessions of the first half.
The Wildcats had 146 of their 160 yards in the first half during the second quarter and held Vandy to just 5 yards after the Commodores gained 142 yards and dominated the time of possession in the first quarter. Kentucky finished with 376 total yards.
Vanderbilt freshman quarterback Jared Curtis threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns,
NO. 13 ALABAMA 31, TEXAS A&M 20
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Keelon Russell threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns, including a pair of fourth-quarter scores that helped Alabama pull away, and the Crimson Tide beat Texas A&M to end a two-game skid.
The Tide (6-2, 4-2 Southeastern Conference) entered the teams’ first meeting since 2023 coming off losses to Georgia and Tennessee. Alabama trailed 20-17 in the second half before taking control with a fourth-down stop and two scoring drives.
Russell completed 19 of 30 passes with an interception, and he found Daniel Hill, Marshall Pritchett and Kalen Edwards for TDs. His No. 1 target was Rico Scott, who finished with six receptions for 156 yards as Alabama played a second consecutive game without Ryan Coleman-Williams (knee).
Alabama’s defense came through, with no play bigger than Dijon Lee Jr.’s 39-yard interception return for a touchdown in the first quarter. The Tide allowed 278 total yards.
Marcel Reed threw picks on Texas A&M’s first two possessions and later lost a fumble, continuing a trend of committing too many turnovers in league games. He finished with 163 yards passing and a touchdown. He also ran for a score.
MINNESOTA 13, NO. 15 IOWA 10
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Luke Drzewiecki kicked a 46-yard field goal as time expired, and Minnesota beat Iowa to claim the Floyd of Rosedale trophy for the first time since 2023 and second time in 12 years.
Drake Lindsey and Jalen Smith connected on a 39-yard pass play on third down from the Minnesota 33 with 39 seconds left to set the Gophers up for the winning points.
Held to a season-low 209 yards of offense, Minnesota (5-2, 2-2 Big Ten) also got a third-quarter rushing touchdown from Darius Taylor after an offsides penalty on Iowa negated a fourth-down stop one play earlier.
Coming in midway through the second quarter, Iowa’s Hank Brown threw for 136 yards, including a 37-yard strike to Reece Vander Zee with 3:46 to play to tie the game.
Iowa (5-2, 2-2) was held to 163 yards through three quarters against a Minnesota defense that allowed 464 yards in a 41-13 loss to Purdue in its last game two weeks ago. The Hawkeyes finished with 288 yards of offense,

WISCONSIN 24, NO. 16 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 7
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Southern California transfer Bryan Jackson scored a first-half touchdown against his former team to help Wisconsin surprise the Trojans.
Wisconsin (5-2, 3-1 Big Ten) had its second victory of the season over a ranked opponent. The Badgers won 24-20 at then-No. 13 Penn State on Sept. 26.
Jackson spent the last two seasons at USC. He rushed 5 yards for a score to put Wisconsin in front 10-7 with less than two minutes left in the first half. The touchdown was the first for Jackson with the Badgers.

NO. 18 LSU 38, AUBURN 17
Auburn, Ala. (AP) — Sam Leavitt accounted for four touchdowns, including two throws to speedster Jackson Harris, and LSU handled Auburn to end an eight-game, road-losing streak in Southeastern Conference play.
Leavitt completed 32 of 45 passes for a career-high 387 yards, ran for 54 more and played turnover-free football for the second consecutive week. He was equally sharp in a 31-0 victory against Mississippi State last Saturday, throwing for 289 yards and four scores.
LSU (6-2, 4-2 SEC) scored on five of six possessions in the first half to take a commanding 31-10 lead into the locker room. It was the kind of performance fans expected when coach Lane Kiffin took over the Tigers and signed one of the most coveted quarterbacks in the transfer portal.
Harris caught nine passes for 178 yards, scoring on a 10-yard strike and turning a 12-yard crossing route into a 70-yard sprint.
Tight end Trey’Dez Green returned after missing the previous four games with a sprained knee and added five receptions for 50 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown that capped a 95-yard drive in the second quarter.
Leavitt ended LSU’s most impressive half of the season with a 4-yard scoring run with 17 seconds to go before the break.

Riley scored on runs of 33 and 72 yards for the Broncos (6-1, 3-0 Pac-12), who have won six straight after a season-opening loss on the road to Oregon. With the win, Boise State became bowl eligible and pulled even with Oregon State for first in the Pac-12.

DALLAS (AP) — Kevin Jennings threw three touchdowns to break SMU’s career record, Kendrick Raphael ran for 104 yards while accounting for three scores, two on fourth-down plays, and the Mustangs beat California.
The Mustangs (6-1, 4-1 ACC) trailed at halftime before scoring touchdowns on their first six drives after the break. The second of those scores was Jennings’ record-breaking 73rd career TD pass, a 21-yarder to Derek McFall, and the third-year starting quarterback added to that with a 17-yarder to Jalen Hale with 6:29 left.
Jennings, already SMU’s career leader for passing yards (9,766) and completions (781), surpassed the 72 TD passes by Tanner Mordecai from 2021-22. Jennings had tied that mark with his 22-yard fourth-down pass to Raphael in the first quarter and finished 16 of 23 passing for 223 yards.

The Wildcats (6-1, 3-1 Big 12) played as a ranked team for the first time this season, having moved into the AP Top 25 despite not playing last week.
