EDMONTON ESKIMOS (8-9) at B.C. LIONS (8-9)

When: Friday, 9:30 p.m. TV: TSN.

Streaks: Edm: 1W; B.C. 2L.

Vegas line: The Lions are favoured by 3 1/2 points.

The storyline: Critical contest for both squads. The winner grabs third, the loser will spend Sunday afternoon praying for the Ticats to beat the Bombers so they can qualify as a crossover team, otherwise they’ll join the Argos as one of two teams out of the playoffs. Edmonton is just 2-4 in its last six games — both those wins coming against the absolutely awful Argonauts. The Lions are 0-2 under Casey Printers, but his numbers have been solid — 300-plus yards in both games — and he has made Geroy Simon a busy man again, which is never a dumb move. B.C. will also benefit from the return of RB Martell Mallett and safety Barron Miles from injury.

MONTREAL ALOUETTES (14-3) at TORONTO ARGONAUTS (3-14)

When: Saturday, noon. TV: TSN/RDS.

Streaks: Mtl: 1W; Tor: 7L.

Vegas line: The Alouettes are favoured by 9 points.

The storyline: There isn’t much of one, to be honest, other than whether the Als can cover the spread against a horrible football team. It says here they might be able to do it with their second-stringers.

CALGARY STAMPEDERS (10-6-1) at SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS (9-7-1)

When: Saturday, 9 p.m. TV: TSN.

Streaks: Cal: 2W; Sask: 1L.

Vegas line: The Roughriders are favoured by 1.5 points.

The storyline: Should be an absolute dandy based on their two previous contests and with first place in the West at stake. The Riders were awful in a loss to Hamilton last weekend, battling a team-wide bout with the flu, a gale-force wind and an iffy effort from QB Darian Durant. Stamps QB Henry Burris has found a new favourite target in former Bomber Romby Bryant, but look for Calgary to also attempt to pound Joffrey Reynolds at a defence that has been occasionally vulnerable to the run this season.

HAMILTON TIGER-CATS (8-9) at WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (7-10)

When: Sunday, noon. TV: TSN. Radio: CJOB.

Streaks: Ham: 2W; Wpg: 1L.

Vegas line: The Bombers are favoured by 2 points.

The storyline: Where to begin? A whole swack of ex-Bombers, including QB Kevin Glenn, roll into town to try and end the Bombers second-half run to the post-season. Winnipeg has won four of its last six to get back in the East fight and have a shot at second. Glenn & Co. have found an impressive blend of DeAndra Cobb and the aerial attack in their last two victories and a high-scoring loss to Montreal three weeks ago. The Bombers need contributions from everyone to extend their season, and QB Michael Bishop will be under the microscope if he can’t protect the ball.
