KILLARNEY – Jill Thurston and her Deer Lodge foursome are going to get another crack at Janet Harvey’s Assiniboine Memorial squad — with the provincial women’s curling championship at stake.
Thurston defeated Kim Link of East St. Paul 10-9 in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts semifinal in dramatic fashion Sunday morning, falling behind 9-6 after eight before stealing singles in 10th and extra ends. Thurston struggled early before regrouping and forcing Link to make two draws to the four foot in the last two ends, both of which were heavy.
The final, scheduled for 1:30 this afternoon, will be a rematch of a superb game in the round-robin in which Harvey clinched first place in her pool with a 9-8 victory.
