WINNIPEG — City council’s public works committee has approved Winnipeg’s $817.6-million blueprint for program spending this year.
Couns. Bill Clement (Charleswood), Harry Lazarenko (Mynarski) and Gord Steeves (St. Vital) approved the city’s operating budget without making any amendments.
Couns. Jenny Gerbasi (Fort Rouge) and Dan Vandal (St. Boniface) were absent, requring Steeves to fill in as acting deputy mayor.
Final amendments to the 2010 operating budget will be made next week when executive policy committee scrutinizes the spending plan.
The budget then moves on to city council as a whole for a final vote on March 23.
