Celebrity Apprentice might be awesome.

I often plan to watch a show from the beginning of the season but usually it falls by the wayside after week one as I either forget it’s on, get too busy, or it simply fails to impress the first time out. I’m going to try hard to watch this season of Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice. I love the cast. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t 100% aware that this show was still on TV until recently, but it seems like it has potential. Here’s why:

Darryl Strawberry: One of my first favourite baseball players. He was probably the first player I ever liked that didn’t play for the Blue Jays or Expos when I was a kid. I loved George Bell, Gary Carter, Tom Henke, and Lloyd "shaker" Moseby and the rest of the the 80’s Jays and Expos… but Darryl was the first to catch my attention south of the border. I loved his stance. I loved his leg kick. I hadn’t seen anyone look so cool hitting a home run before. He had his demons. He also had cancer. He also has 4 World Series rings. He may have said "Let it burn" when informed of the L.A. riots taking place in his hometown in 1993. He was alot of things, but I’ll always have soft spot for Darryl Strawberry.

Cyndi Lauper: I owned "She’s so Unusual" on LP. Well, I co–owned it with my sister. If I had been asked what the greatest album of all–time was in 1983, I would have declared a tie between her album and "Thriller", which happened to be the only two albums I owned that weren’t Raffi. I also recall thinking it was awesome that she was brought Hulk Hogan with her to the Grammy’s as her bodyguard.

Michael Johnson: I still remember Michael Johnson proclaiming himself the "World’s Fastest Man" and knowing from that point forward I would never forgive him. He was never the "World’s Fastest Man". Donovan Bailey was. You can’t all of a sudden change the criteria for said title. I hope Michael Johnson pulls up lame on Celebrity Apprentice with a fake injury like he did the time he raced Bailey in that wacky 150 metre dash and had no option but to play the injury card as he was getting smoked.

Sinbad: For me, Sinbad’s performance as Andre Krimm in 1991’s brillant football movie Necessary Roughness will go down as one of the greatest acting performances of all time. I think I watched that movie 15 times before the end of 1992. Scott Bakula was great, but Sinbad was exceptional.

Rod Blagojevich: This guy is a classic. For starters, his real name is actually Milorad, which is clearly the coolest first name of all time. Secondly, the only thing I know about him besides the fact he was arrested on federal corruption charges is that his wife is super nice. Her name is Patty and she was on that show called "I’m a Celebrity… get me out of here". I think she was on it because he was in jail or something. She was the nicest lady ever, which tells me there is more to Milorad’s story then we know.

Bret Michaels: With all due respect to Friends, Lost, Seinfeld, West Wing, etc… the greatest show of the past 15 years was Rock of Love with Bret Michaels. To watch was to cringe. Never had kissing looked less appealing than on this show. It was the greatest and worst thing ever. He wasn’t trying to be funny, and I’m assuming he isn’t funny, but the show was hilarious. Plus he wrote Nuthin’ But a Good Time, Unskinny Bop, and Every Rose has its Thorn, good songs all of them. Oh and Fallen Angel. And I Won’t Forget You. And Talk Dirty to Me. What a legacy. He will also be wearing a bandana with a tux, an unappreciated look if there ever was one.
