This morning the RCMP D Division announced the addition of a new position that aims to reach out to Manitoba’s diverse communities.
Corp. David Ogungbemi assumes the new role of Cultural Diversity Officer, after 17 years of service with the RCMP.
Ogungbemi will travel to rural and urban Manitoba communities to assess specific and emergent needs of minority groups.
"I’m looking forward to reaching out to youth, and just talking with people," said Ogungbemi. "The first step is just figuring out what people need."
Ogungbemi will officially start his role in late July, but said he is already at work learning about Manitoba’s many communities.
