Vancouver quintet the Fugitives might seem more appropriate at the folk fest than the fringe fest. Their hour-long unplugged acoustic set is about the music (also spoken-word poetry ... oh, and some smartass repartee).

Vancouver quintet the Fugitives might seem more appropriate at the folk fest than the fringe fest. Their hour-long unplugged acoustic set is about the music (also spoken-word poetry … oh, and some smartass repartee).

Count yourself lucky to see them here. The MTC venue allows a much cleaner, austere aural setting, as opposed to a folk fest stage where your fellow audience members would likely be chatting loudly and the noise from other stages may pull you out of your Fugitives groove.

Though the Fugitives may be more dynamic is a smaller setting, they really sound wonderful on the big stage as they play as a band or paired off in multiple iterations. The musical emphasis is on music from their latest CD, titled coincidentally, Eccentrically We Love.
