MANITOBA Junior champ Aaron Cockerill of Teulon shook off a shaky start on Thursday and held on to win the CN Future Links Western Championship in Rocky Mountain House, Alta.
Cockerill shot a three-over 75 Thursday at Pine Hills Golf Club and it was good enough for a two-shot win over Dallas Mengel of Saskatoon. Cockerill’s three-day total was 217, one-over-par. Cockerill, who won the Manitoba junior title in a playoff last week, finished well back at the Future Links event held at Winnipeg’s Rossmere at the end of June.
