The 2019 edition of the C4 Central Canada Comic Con has been cancelled.
In a lengthy Facebook post, CEO Michael Paille cited lack of date availability at the RBC Convention Centre, rising rental fees, as well as “lack of local support from businesses and the City of Winnipeg” for the cancellation of the popular annual convention, which was slated to take place this October.
“We have looked at other options and other cities to move the convention to but with no success,” Paille wrote. “We do hope that we can bring Central Canada Comic Con back to the RBC Convention Centre but as of 2019 there will be no Central Canada Comic Con this October.”
The RBC Convention Centre has hosted C4 Central Canada Comic Con for the past 12 years and has welcomed dozens of Hollywood stars to meet attendees, including the likes of Star Trek’s William Shatner, Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig; Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Adam West, who played Batman in the original television series.
