Published by HarperCollins in September 2022, The Theory of Crows follows Matthew, a father, and his estranged daughter Holly, as they venture north together in search of a long-lost cabin on the family trapline following a tragic event in their lives. But deep down both are looking for something more, and when events take a turn for the worse on their journey they must rely on each other for survival.

In her Free Press review in October 2022, Deborah Bowers noted The Theory of Crows “explores an interconnected story that includes a fractured relationship between a father and teenage daughter, a critical family connection to ancestral land and significant healing that happens on a shared journey,” adding that “While they work on reconnecting, nature is their guide, having the power to provide, challenge and heal.”

David A. Robertson will join Free Press literary editor Ben Sigurdson, Chris Hall of McNally Robinson Booksellers and Free Press manager of audience engagement Erin Lebar for the virtual book club meeting on Monday, Jan. 30. Robertson will spend time reading from The Theory of Crows, discuss the novel’s origins and core themes and answer questions from book club members.

Copies of The Theory of Crows are available to purchase at McNally Robinson; there is no cost to join the book club and virtual discussion, which will be available to replay after the event on the Free Press YouTube channel.
