MOON ALERT Until 3 p.m. we have the all clear to do business and make important decisions. (After that avoid major purchases and decisions.) The moon is in Aries.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

The moon is in your sign, which makes you feisty. (Along with everyone else.) However, in the morning, the moon also opposes your ruler Mars, which means feisty mushrooms into aggression. It’s not a good way to start the week. Patience will save you.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

Tiptoe around cranky types at work this morning because people are irritable and looking for an excuse to snarl. What you don’t want to do is give them that excuse. Ironically, by the afternoon, all is mellow. Things just get better as this day wears on.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

Keep your head down and your powder dry this morning because people are touchy. It is worth your while to be low key in the morning because by the afternoon, it’s smooth sailing for everyone. Life is all about timing. (That’s where astrology comes in.)

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

Do not approach your boss or an authority figure this morning to ask for a favour or permission. Things will just start to veer off in the wrong direction. Instead, avoid these discussions this morning, and wait until tomorrow to ensure your success.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

Arguments about politics, religion, racial issues or practically anything might take place this morning because people are argumentative. Therefore, avoid this if you can. (You’ll see it coming.) This afternoon is lighthearted. Try to get away and do something different.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Discussions about shared property, insurance matters, inheritances and red-tape matters will not go well this morning because arguments could arise. Later in the day, things soften up, but tomorrow is a far better day to discuss these matters.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Mild arguments with partners and close friends might take place this morning because Mars is in your sign sitting opposite the moon in Aries. Say no more! (In fact, you might want to take that literally.) Later in the day, relations warm to the point of being fun and lighthearted.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Be polite and accommodating with co-workers this morning. Don’t take the bait and don’t provoke anyone because the moon in Aries is opposite Mars, which means some people are looking for a fight. By afternoon, this is no longer an issue. Efficiency might suffer, however.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Parents and teachers must be patient with children this morning to avoid hissy fits and meltdowns. The moon is opposite Mars, which makes people impatient, indignant, combative and ready to complain or speak back. Don’t give anyone something to work with.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Domestic upsets might occur this morning. This sort of thing is happening all over the world, but admittedly, Monday morning is a sensitive time for it to occur. Mondays are challenging at their best and the morning even more so. Chill out because later in the day, things are fine.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Be patient with others this morning, especially travelling to work, driving, walking or taking public transport. People will be impatient and abrupt with each other. However, by the afternoon, all is forgotten. In fact, the afternoon will be friendly.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

Disputes about money, cash flow and possessions might occur this morning. Ideally, postpone these discussions until tomorrow. (You will if you’re smart.) Just be patient this morning because by the afternoon, things are lighthearted.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY

Actor Ewan McGregor (1971) shares your birthday. You are tenacious. If you want something you will fight for it. You will certainly not give up. It’s easy for you to take charge and more difficult to accept orders from others. (But you can.) You are quick to see creative, practical solutions. This year, a major change might take place, perhaps as significant as something that occurred around 2005. Don’t be afraid to try your wings!

MOON ALERT: There are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions. The moon is in Aries.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

The moon in your sign is lined up with stern Saturn, which can make you feel isolated from others. Domestic problems might surface. Possibly, you might feel cut off from your emotions. You might even feel a tinge of guilt. This is fleeting.

Transcona teen — and Nigerian royalty — earns high school diploma as queen mother beams with pride

Maggie Macintosh 7 minute read Yesterday at 8:40 PM CDT

Manitoba’s public school system is receiving high praise from a Nigerian king who sent his only son to Grade 12 in Transcona.

Prince Adetola Samuel Owoade — known as “Sam,” to friends and family — kept his royal title under wraps throughout his tenure at Transcona Collegiate.

It wasn’t until an end-of-year ceremony that many of Sam’s peers and their families learned nobility was among the Class of 2026.

His Royal Majesty, Abimbola Owoade I, was unable to vacate his throne in southwestern Nigeria for the occasion, but he made his fatherly pride known.

Businesses report ongoing struggle amid reduced walk-by traffic 1 year into Graham Avenue transit corridor rework

Gabrielle Piché 5 minute read Saturday, Jul. 4, 2026

Layoffs, squeezed profits, reduced hours and a downsizing have plagued Graham Avenue businesses in the year since buses were removed from the former Winnipeg Transit strip.

A convenience store along the road doubled its footprint two years ago. Now, it’s operating in half the space: a wall was built in the middle of the shop last month, creating room for a new tenant.

Across the street, bong seller Aluminum Sound has laid off two staff. It’s one of at least two companies to lessen its employee count following the Transit overhaul.

“You could fire a cannon down Graham Avenue a lot of the time and not have to worry about any casualties,” said Aimee Peake, owner of Bison Books.
