Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 28/11/2019 (2134 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
Dear Helen,
Please give your opinion of 17-year-olds who bleach or colour their hair and lame-brain parents who allow such phoney practices.
— An Avid Follower
Dear Avid,
A girl’s best hair colour is the one which comes built-in especially for her. No substitute can match it, but many gals must find this out for themselves after agonizing months of two-tone tops and split hairs.
Parents who allow? Maybe all that advertising has beat them down. Or perhaps they figure the best way to teach a teenager is to let her teach herself.
Dear Helen,
My husband works hard all week (six days) and thinks this gives him the right to go skin diving with his pals every Sunday, leaving me and our two children at home. He won’t compromise, but insists that he’s entitled to this summer pleasure, as he stays home most of the time during the winter.
He says I’m being selfish… I say vice versa. Who’s right?
— Skin-diving Widow
Dear Widow,
Better he chase a fish with a spear than a “dish” with leer. Why don’t you S.D. widows get together, pack a lunch and spend your lamp-in-the-window hours on the beach with the kids?
Dear Helen,
I am a boy of 19 and have a problem. I am in love with a girl who is only 14, but she is very mature. We went steady about two months, but her mother stopped that. This isn’t too bad, but this girl says she can’t love me unless we go steady. I am half out of my mind and have thought about killing myself. What should I do?
— Helpless But Not Quite Hopeless
Dear Helpless,
Forget her, or you’ll wish you did. You’re asking for big, big trouble if you keep on dating this overwise bit of jail-bait.
