TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

Be aware of the restrictions of the moon alert because the moon is in your money house, tempting you to spend money. Don’t do it. Restrict spending to food and gas. Mars moves into your sign boosting your energy for the next six weeks.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

The moon is in your sign for most of the day; however, it’s a moon alert all day. (See above.) You’re definitely tempted to shop for pretty things. Postpone this temptation until tomorrow. In the meantime, you’re keen to talk to others and share your ideas.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

Fair Venus moves into your sign to stay for the next few weeks. While it’s in your sign, you’ll find it easy to be charming and diplomatic with everyone. This will also be a lovely window of time for you to shop for wardrobe goodies — but not now. (See moon alert above.)

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

Mars moves to the top of your chart to stay for the next six weeks, arousing your ambition as never before. Because Mars will make you identify more with your work, you’ll work hard to achieve what you want. However, Mars can also create conflict with bosses.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You’re high-viz. People notice you. (Some know personal details about your private life.) Mars changes signs activating your desire to travel, as well as to explore opportunities in medicine, the law, higher education and publishing.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

This is the perfect day to do something different. Explore your own city. Take a drive in the country. Learn something new and meet people from different backgrounds. Most of this day is a moon alert, so restrict spending to food and gas.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Check the moon alert because the moon is in one of your money houses. Avoid important decisions. Restrict spending to food and gas. Mars moves opposite your sign to stay for the next six weeks, which can make you impatient with others. Go gently.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You might have to go more than halfway when dealing with others, especially those who are closest to you. However, be aware of the restrictions of the moon alert. (See above.) Fortunately, you’re getting ready to work hard.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

This is a playful, fun-loving time for you — especially for athletics and competitive sports. Today however, the moon alert (see above) might affect your work. Postpone important decisions and restrict spending to food and gas. Be smart.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

In the next few months, your home scene will be more chaotic due to visiting guests, renovations, redecorating projects or residential moves. Fortunately, work-related issues are blessed. (In fact, a work-related romance might begin.) Restrict spending to food and gas.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

This is a quiet, gentler day. Home repairs and family discussions might take place; nevertheless, relax if you can. It’s also a lovely day to schmooze socially with others. Enjoy romance, fun outings and playful times with kids.

OTTAWA - Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston says Prime Minister Mark Carney has asked provinces to restock American alcohol on their shelves as Canada finalizes a trade deal with the U.S.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced Tuesday he would put a three-day pause on 50 per cent tariffs that would have hit an array of Canadian goods just after midnight Wednesday.

The two governments are now finalizing the language of the deal.

Carney, who briefed cabinet ministers and premiers about the draft plan Wednesday, said the deal it builds on Canada's existing trade advantages with the U.S.

Elevate things between you by breaking ice

Maureen Scurfield 5 minute read Yesterday at 2:00 AM CDT

DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: I work in a high rise downtown and every day I come to work at the same time. I often ride the elevator up with this new guy working a few floors under me. I always feel a little disappointed when he has to get off, and I continue up into the sky.

I’ve worked my way up to speaking pleasantries about the weather, and he responds with cute remarks about the clouds. The good news? He’s not wearing a ring. I also found out his first name from hearing other people say hello to him. Now what?

— Feeling Frustrated! Downtown

Dear Frustrated: Next time you’re on the elevator ride together, say “Hi! My name is such-and-such and I work at such-and-such. Where do you work up here in the clouds?” That should make him smile and break the ice. Then you could consider asking if he might like to join you for a coffee on a work break, if you can co-ordinate it.

Manitoba’s liquor regulator has accused an Exchange District nightclub of exceeding its occupant capacity limit and hindering the work of inspectors.

Diablo, located at Main Street and Bannatyne Avenue, is scheduled to appeal two compliance orders, issued by the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba, at a Sept. 8 hearing.

An LGCA spokesperson said the compliance orders are part of an ongoing investigation.

The spokesperson said one of the orders was issued after the licensed club was over capacity April 26.

Taylor Allen 6 minute read Yesterday at 7:04 PM CDT

Edmonton’s CFL team has been a complete, utter mess for the majority of the past decade.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers took full advantage of their once-prominent West Division foe falling on hard times by shellacking them time and time again.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we?

The Blue and Gold defeated the Elks three times in a span of five weeks in 2021 — including a 30-3 beatdown on Chancellor Matheson Road on Oct. 8.

Scott Billeck 3 minute read Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026

A West Broadway landlord is off the hook for clearing a large riverbank encampment after the City of Winnipeg rescinded an order threatening to stick him with the cleanup bill.

Marvin Sharp, CEO of Astroid Management Ltd., which operates the Pen-Eve Apartments at 35 Balmoral St., said he received a call from the city Tuesday letting him know the order has been cancelled.

In a statement from the city, an official said the order was shelved due to an existing and active easement on the property.

“We have been communicating with the property owner throughout this process and they have been informed of this development,” a spokesperson said.
