Susin Nielsen is one of three authors shortlisted for the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour.
The Governor General’s Literary Award-winner made the list for her novel “Snap,” about three people who meet at a court-mandated anger management class.
Also in the running for the $25,000 prize is Meredith Hambrock for “She’s a Lamb,” a comic suspense novel about a theatre worker convinced she’s meant to be a star.
Rounding out the short list is Mark Waddell for “Colin Gets Promoted and Dooms the World,” a novel about a low-level employee at a Hell-like corporation.
The Stephen Leacock Associates say each book demonstrates not only a strong sense of humour but also engaging storytelling, literary merit, and an authentic narrative voice.
The winner will be announced June 20 at the Leacock Medal Gala Dinner in Orillia, Ont.
